On a recent visit to Cellar 49, I learned about the popular Rye Manhattan from Tarrytown House and Estate Director of Food and Beverage Richard Porteus.

Porteus brought out the ingredients of the Rye Manhattan, and I was able to snap a few photographs, using the rich interior of Cellar 49 as a backdrop. Let me assure you that this drink will keep you warm on a cold winter evening, and will go great with one of the many appetizers available from the Cellar 49 kitchen.

The recipe for the Rye Manhattan can be found on the Tarrytown House Facebook page. We've also posted a photo of the recipe below.

Porteus, along with Executive Chef Chris Hettinger, stresses the importance of local products in the menu items that are prepared in the Tarrytown House bar and restaurant. One such item in the Rye Manhattan is the Brooklyn Hemisperical Black Mission Fig Bitters.

Cellar 49 patrons will also find local cheeses from Dutchess County's Sprout Creek Farm and locally sourced pure maple syrup from Crown Maple Syrup in Dover Plains.

Cellar 49 -- The creation of Cellar 49 uncovered long hidden features of the mansion, which have been incorporated into the decor. Key-stoned brick archways, rugged granite columns, and distressed wood beams set the stage. The centerpiece of this restaurant is a private dining room set right within the wine cellar itself.

From steaks and burgers to an assortment of conversation-starting 'flights' and sharing platters of everything from appetizers to desserts - Cellar 49 is the perfect place for friends and colleagues to unwind over a great meal, paired with your favorite beverage.

As the name implies, wines are a focal point of Cellar 49. The wine cellar is filled with unique selections, some well known, and some hidden gems and rare finds not readily available at your local shop. Cellar 49 also features a wide variety of bottled and tap beers from around the world to around the Hudson Valley.
