$11 Million Restoration Taking Place At
Tarrytown House Estate And Conference Center
TARRYTOWN, New York — An extensive $11 million restoration is currently underway at Tarrytown House Estate & Conference Center, with completion planned by March, 2006. This elegant property overlooking the majestic Hudson River offers a blend of gracious charm and history, with conference and leisure facilities and services that meet the exacting standards of the present. The restoration focuses on the grandeur of the historic Biddle Mansion and King Mansion, guestroom houses, meeting spaces and the sports center.
In the Biddle Mansion, work on the lobby, the drawing room and the garden room is restoring the original hardwood and marble floors. In the Winter Palace, the original scope of the 1987 design will be restored, along with entirely new carpeting throughout. Complete restoration will occur in the King Mansion, bringing guest rooms and public rooms back to their Victorian splendor. Oriental rugs will be placed on the main level wood floors after they have been restored, along with carpeting in the halls and stairways. Re-appointment of HVAC in the manor room, garden salon and library will take place as well.
In the guestroom houses, upscale guest rooms will feature new carpeting, drapes, pillow top beds, comforters, flat screen TV's and new furniture. Upgrades in lighting, new corridor carpeting and artwork, new molding, and full-length marble "spa" showers will replace tubs, along with freestanding granite vanity counters with under mount sinks. The house will be equipped with hard-wired Internet access as well.
Meeting spaces will receive new carpeting, the addition of new coffee break credenzas, and the renovation of public bathrooms. In addition, all meeting rooms will be re-appointed, and the business and computer labs will be re-designed. The sports center will receive a complete re-do of both levels, along with a new heating & cooling system, rubber floors in the weight room, carpeting on the upper level, and new indoor and outdoor pool furniture. An anti-slip surface will replace the poolside carpeting and massage rooms will be re-appointed.
