Industrial Arts Brewing Company in Garnerville
Sample the bright and hoppy beers at this 30,000-square-foot brewery, which is housed in a pre-Civil War industrial complex that's been meticulously restored inside. Part of the Garnerville Arts and Industrial Center, the brewery has only been open since 2016 – but in 2018, it was already one of the fastest-growing small and independent craft breweries in the country. The vibe is clean and modern, with artwork from locals and a welcoming feel. It's known for crowd-pleasing American ales and lager, plus a few experimental brews on the side. Try the herbaceous Metric, the hazy Wrench IPA, and the citrusy Tools of the Trade. Food at the brewery includes soft pretzels, cheese plates, and charcuterie, and you can also bring your own.
District 96 Beer Factory in New City
Pale ales and IPAs are the go-to libations at this brewery, which shares an entry (and owner) with its neighbor Burger Loft. Giant garage doors and windows bring in plenty of natural light to the chic industrial space. Two skylights add to the open atmosphere, and a waterfall of Edison bulbs hang from the ceilings. Beers are accessible to all, like the Americanish Kolsch and the Silent Majority pale ale. Try the tropical Photo Bomb or the tangy Orange Man for a twist. Hungry drinkers have plenty of juicy burgers to choose from via the Burger Loft, from classic hits to nouveau creations like the eggplant burger, a vegetarian dream with caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, cheddar, and arugula. And all burgers are served with double patties.
Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Elmsford
Savor award-winning Belgian ales with an American twist at this craft brewery. Named after a militia captain of the American Revolution, the mainstay brewery's new location in Elmsford was just opened in May 2019. The beer hall is a sprawling, 5,000-square-foot ode to the art of the brew, with communal tables and high ceilings for an airy vibe. Glimpse the chefs at work in the open kitchen, where they're whipping up wood-fired pizzas, braised beef tacos, and pub grub comfort food like Bronx pretzels and dirty fries. For beers, you can't go wrong with the 6th Borough Pilsner or the Double Pull Imperial Stout. You can also try brewery-only concoctions and season beers, like the Continental Collusion and the Vaporous Aromatics: Pineapple.
Wolf & Warrior Brewing Company in White Plains
Another recent addition to the Lower Hudson Valley beer scene is Wolf & Warrior Brewing Company and taproom, which opened its doors in February 2019. Grab a handle or a flight of beers and relax; the brewery offers 16 beers on tap, including wheat beers, a saison, IPAs, pale ales, blondes, a stout, and even a cider. The food menu features a whole section of sausages, from serrano and cheddar chorizo to traditional German bratwurst and classic Italian. Flatbreads, sandwiches, and appetizers like chili and a pickle sampler make up the rest. Kick back in an appealing, unstuffy atmosphere with comfy couches and games.
The Peekskill Brewery on the Peekskill Riverfront
Along with Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, The Peekskill Brewery has been around a long time, since way back in 2008. An innovator of the region's craft beer movement, the powerhouse brewery and gastropub serves elevated cuisine and house-made brews in a beautiful two-story location right on the Hudson River. On the ground floor, you'll find the brewery's operations, including giant stainless steel vats for fermentation. The restaurant is situated on the entire second floor; find a seat by the window if you can. Diners enjoy all the classics, from burgers and fish ‘n chips to flatbreads and chicken wings. Funkier finds include tempura asparagus fries, quinoa veggie burgers, and burrata salad. Beers go down smooth; start with a fan favorite like the Amazeballs, Valley Life, or Skills Pils.
