TaSH: Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow Farmer's Market at Patriot's Park

Shop for fresh seasonal produce, gourmet foods, and ready-to-eat treats at this local farmer's market. It takes place at Patriot's Park on the border of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow (just 2.8 miles away from Tarrytown House Estate). Open from Memorial Day weekend through Thanksgiving, the farmer's market features an idyllic setting close to the Hudson River on a traditional Village Green. Every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., you can browse the stalls and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
Situated just off Route 9, Patriots Park isn't just a beautiful Village Green - it's also an important historical location. During the American Revolution, it's the place where three militiamen captured the British spy John Andre. Documents that he was carrying contained information about Benedict Arnold's plot to give the fort at West Point (and George Washington!) to the British. The traitor's treasonous plot was thankfully thwarted. Patriot's Park is also where Ichabod Crane first encounters the Headless Horseman in Washington Irving's story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Along with shopping and sampling, this dog-friendly market hosts a wide variety of special events including live musical performances, children's programs, and ongoing educational activities. And there's no better place to discover the bounty of the Hudson Valley region. You can shop for all sorts of things at the Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow Farmer's Market, which focuses on organic and sustainable items. Every one of the 50+ vendors must raise, make, or sell farm-based products that are grown or crafted within 100 miles of the market or anywhere within New York State. Pack the perfect picnic basket!
  • Ready-to-eat items, including samosas, risotto balls, and Middle Eastern cuisine
  • Chocolates, candy, and sweets
  • Freshly roasted coffee beans
  • Gourmet pickled vegetables
  • Locally grown fruits and vegetables
  • Fresh-baked bread, pastries, and baked goods
  • High-quality meat, fish, and poultry
  • Farm-fresh eggs
  • Artisan cheeses and dairy products
  • Cut flower bouquets and plants
  • Gluten-free and vegan treats
  • Olive oil and fresh pasta
  • Wine, beer, mead, and spirits
  • Spices, sauces, dressings, and dips

Sunday Shopping at Irvington Farmer's Market

If you want to go shopping on a Sunday, this nearby farmer's market is open every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from May through November (plus winter markets on Saturday afternoons). You'll find the local vendors gathered around Main Street School at 101 Main Street in Irvington, just 0.9 miles away from Washington Irving's home Sunnyside and 1.3 miles away from our hotel. All products sold here have been produced within 200 miles, and include just-picked produce, farmstead cheeses, Vietnamese summer rolls, and fresh-baked treats. You can also try a tasty pizza from Dough Nation's mobile wood-burning oven.

Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture

The first Europeans to settle the Hudson Valley were Dutch farmers, and their descendants carry on their agricultural traditions today at Stone Barns. Located 5.8 miles north of our hotel near Rockefeller State Park, this sustainable farm features 80 gorgeous acres of rolling pastures, woodlands, and gardens to explore. There's also a restaurant and café, along with a market for shopping directly from the source. Stroll amongst the livestock pens, field crops, and vegetable gardens and you'll feel like you are walking back in time. Stone Barns also hosts a wide variety of year-round events and activities, including:
  • Guided tours of the farm and greenhouse
  • Farming, gardening, and wild foraging workshops
  • Cooking classes
  • Children's story time
  • Seasonal celebrations, including the Harvest Fest and Sheep Shearing Fest
