Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at the Old Dutch Church
One of our most beloved holiday traditions here in the Hudson River Valley is the performance of Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol" in the Old Dutch Church. Master storyteller Jonathan Kurk shares the tale like never before, accompanied by live music and the charismatic setting of the 17th-century stone church. Shows will take place in Sleepy Hollow on December 8-9 and 15-16 at 3:30 p.m., 4:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Book our Dickens Christmas Carol Package and we'll arrange two tickets to the show and serve you a delicious breakfast in the morning.
Holiday Tours at Lyndhurst Mansion: A Very Duchess Holiday
Elaborate decorations fill every corner of this historic mansion for an awe-inspiring tour, one of the most popular things to do in Tarrytown for the holidays. Lyndhurst is open this season every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through December 27. This year's theme "A Very Duchess Christmas" pays homage to a real French princess and duchess, Anna Gould - the Duchess of Tallyrand. She was also the last owner of Lyndhurst, and many of her personal Christmas decorations will be used to adorn the mansion.
See over-the-top holiday vignettes, dozens of decorated trees, glittering jewelry, tablescapes, and toys. Named as one of the "Ten Best Historic Holiday Tours" by USA Today, the Holidays at Lyndhurst is truly a magical experience. Buy tickets online in advance to secure your preferred day and time to visit. While you're there, be sure to stop by the Carriage House to try the delicious baked goods from Red Barn Bakery, including pies, cakes, cookies, and nuts; vegan and gluten-free options are also available. Lyndhurst is located 1.2 miles from Tarrytown House Estate.
Mr. Dickens Tells a Christmas Carol & Holiday Brass Concert at Lyndhurst
In addition to the lavish decor, Lyndhurst also hosts special holiday performances to set the mood for the season. On Sunday, December 16 at 3:00 p.m., the Carriage House will host "A Collective Christmas" holiday concert with Collective Brass. Listen to ancient carols, songs from the Nutcracker, sing-along favorites, and the Hallelujah Chorus.
You can also enjoy a unique, roving presentation of "Mr. Dickens Tells a Christmas Carol" starring Mikel Von Brodbeck. Guests will travel around the main floor of the mansion as they meet the different spirits and characters, including Bob Cratchit, Ebenezer Scrooge, and Tiny Tim. It's a new adaptation of the classic Christmas tale, and a wonderful way to experience the beautiful period setting of the mansion. Performances will take place from December 14-30.
