Tarrytown House Estate History - A Hudson Valley Landmark

In the heart of "Sleepy Hollow Country," Tarrytown House Estate has long been a cornerstone of the historic Hudson Valley of New York. First as a country home for affluent families of the tobacco and railroad industries from the mid 1800's through after the turn of the century, the Estate is where the wealthy hosted countless galas and events.

In 1964, founder Bob Schwartz, the New York Bureau Chief with Life Magazine, revolutionized the executive training and meetings industry with the creation of Tarrytown House - the nation's first commercial conference center. Today, Tarrytown House Estate on the Hudson is a beautiful place where corporate, association and government leaders come to learn and share. Families celebrate life's most special events. And guests from around the world come for leisure getaways, to tour the historic sites of the Hudson Valley and enjoy the charming towns along the Hudson River.

Meet the Lady of the Estate

Lady is a playful black lab, who has joined the team at the Tarrytown House Estate. If you've ever been to the Tarrytown House Estate, you know that we sit on 26 beautifully manicured acres in historic Westchester County. The lush lawns throughout the property are a tempting rest stop and snack bar for geese as they fly south in the winter and back north in the spring. To keep these unwanted "guests" at bay, Lady is our frisky chase dog.
