The villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are located along the eastern bank of the Hudson River and are home to legends, history and a network of trails and parks. Tarrytown is located about 25 miles north of Midtown Manhattan in New York City and is referenced in writer Washington Irving's famous "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."
You can visit Sunnyside, Irving's home, or stop by the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Other famous residents have once included the Rockefellers, The Van Cortlandts and Anna Gould, Duchess of Talleyrand and Princess de Sagan. If you want to skip these historic places and tune into the natural surroundings of the Hudson Valley, head to the Rockefeller Preserve or Pierson Park.
