Kykuit: Estate tours & Events

Set hilltop in Mount Pleasant, NY, the Kykuit estate is a prominent Hudson Valley landmark. Home to four generations of the affluent Rockefeller family beginning with the founder of Standard Oil, John D. Rockefeller, visitors can now tour the well-preserved mansion's lush gardens and main rooms of the six-story house. Now a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Kykuit has been meticulously maintained for more than a century. There are five types of tours available to learn all about the lives and stories of the Rockefeller family and their contributions to the arts and philanthropies.
Guests can explore the antique furnishings and extensive art collections that include works by Pablo Picasso, Warhol, Alexander Calder, Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson, and David Smith. Visitors can also tour the underground galleries that house collections of classic automobiles and horse-drawn carriages from the 20th Century. where is kykuit mansion?

Kykuit Mansion is situated on the highest hilltop in a town called Mount Pleasant in Westchester County, NY, just 3 miles from Tarrytown House Estate. The mansion overlooks the Hudson River and offers mesmerizing Manhattan skyline views.

who owns the kykuit art collection?

Nelson Rockefeller assumed ownership of Kykuit in 1961, after the death of his father, and therefore owns the art. His passion for his collection of modern art was wildly appreciated and in 1991, Kykuit was bestowed to the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Rockefeller estate was opened to the public to tour as a historic site.
