Historic New York Hotel Offers Unique Halloween Getaway Packages

Tarrytown House Estate in New York Offers Haunted Hotel Packages, "The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze", "Horseman's Hollow" and an Overnight Stay in the Haunted King Mansion

Tarrytown, NY (September 2012) – Are you afraid of the dark? This Halloween season, Tarrytown House Estate is giving guests a selection of “eerie” haunted New York hotel packages, in partnership with Historic Hudson Valley, which operates many of Westchester’s historic sites. Located in the area made famous by the Washington Irving classic horror tale “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” the 26-acre estate hotel which is managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts is the prime destination for a spook-tacular Halloween experience.

With one of the Halloween packages at this haunted hotel in New York, guests can take advantage of deluxe overnight accommodations, VIP admission* to “The Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze” at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson or tickets to “Horseman’s Hollow” at historic Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow and a full American breakfast for two starting at $339 per night!**. Select historic hotel rooms in the Estate’s King Mansion are available with the same amenities starting at $439.

*VIP ticketholders for The Blaze skip the lines and can visit the experience without a specific time slot.

**select nights; higher rates may apply

The “Blaze,” an annual Halloween event, features more than 4,000 individually hand-carved, illuminated jack o’lanterns displayed on the grounds of the 18th century Van Cortlandt Manor. Slithering snakes, shrunken heads, a giant spider web, an undersea aquarium, dinosaurs, pirates, ghosts plus a mammoth exhibition of mummies and pyramid straight out of ancient Egypt are all in display at this exciting event. Children under 3 can attend the Blaze for free.

“Horseman’s Hollow,” which is in its third year, transforms the historic Philipsburg Manor into a terrifying Halloween landscape ruled by vampires, witches, ghouls and ghosts, all serving the Headless Horseman himself. Note: This attraction has a very high fear factor and is not suitable for small children or for adults who are claustrophobic or have chronic health conditions.

The “Blaze” will take place every weekend in October and into November, starting October 6-8 and continuing through November 9-11. “Horseman’s Hollow” will be offered the weekends of October 6-7, 13-14, 19-21, and 25-28. Tickets are limited so book your Halloween getaway package today.

The aforementioned King Mansion may be a haunted Halloween destination unto itself. It is believed by some that a former owner of the mansion continues to walk the halls of the second floor of the King Mansion, now a part of this historic New York hotel, usually appearing as an apparition dressed in white. She is often seen in Room 293, where she had supposedly died. Housekeepers have seen moving, shadowy figures and a conference service worker once saw an apparition of an old lady in a white dress.  A stay in a hotel room at the King Mansion will provide an unparalleled and possibly haunted experience for the Halloween season.
